The Ghouls

Let me start off by saying this CD probably would have been more impressive to me if the recording wasn’t as rough.

With that said, let me review the CD.

Ok so don’t get me wrong about the rough recording thing, the music its self was awesome. I live for squealing metal guitars, but I would have loved to hear more of the music and less of the deep, growling vocals of “Garden of Corpses”. The music sounded like they were tapping into old Slayer, Pantera, or even (dare I say) Mushroomhead styles. But mainly what I heard when the vocals came on, was just the vocals. The vocals were a lot of growling and at times a little monotone; but it probably would have been better if the recording quality was a little less rough.

The music was probably my favorite aspect of the CD. I like screechy metal-oriented guitars. So that was what lead me to this decision.

For the rating of the CD, I give it a 3 and ¾. The music was excellent, and the vocals were kind of cool too once I warmed up to them, but the recording quality was less than perfect.
