(The following is a recorded AIM conversation between the band Karma Has Kelly and editor Mandee)
insidejokerfreak: So tell me a little bit about the band
Karma Has Kelly: Our name is Karma Has Kelly and we are located out of Amherst, Ohio, which is near Cleveland.
Karma Has Kelly: We have been together since 2004 and consist of Eddie Grant on Vocals, Ricky Esser on Rhythm Guitar, Nick
Sajka on Bass, Chris Olexa on Drums, and Andrew Constantino on Lead Guitar.
Karma Has Kelly: Currently we are signed to Makeshift Apology Records and start recording our full length album this Saturday,
March 25.
insidejokerfreak: How would describe your music (say, sell it to someone who's never heard it before)?
Karma Has Kelly: We play indie rock music that has many dynamics. We try to touch base with whatever we feel at the moment
instead of sticking to a set or strict genre of music.
insidejokerfreak: So where did you guys get the name from?
Karma Has Kelly: Kelly is the name of our lead singer's (Eddie) ex-girlfriend who treated him like shit all the time. Karma,
by definition is what goes around comes around, hence Kelly has what's coming for her.... Karma Has Kelly...
insidejokerfreak: nice
insidejokerfreak: So how long have you been signed? And I guess tell me a little about the label
Karma Has Kelly: I'll go ahead and let our label answer this one, Doug...
Makeshift Apology Records: They have been signed officially since March 18th 2006. They are our first band to sign with
the label.
insidejokerfreak: How long have you guys been together?
Makeshift Apology Records: We are a newly founded indie label based out of London, Ohio. We are all about developing new
unsigned talent and exposing them to the world.
Karma Has Kelly: We have been together since August 2004.
insidejokerfreak: So what are the band's inspirations?
Karma Has Kelly: Strong influences in my music career consists of Metallica, AFI, Eric Clapton, and Joe Satriani. As far
as Chris (drums) goes, I know he is influenced by Number Twelve Looks Like You and Chiodos
insidejokerfreak: So (if it's different) who inspired you to start playing your instruments or to get into music in general?
Karma Has Kelly: My influences are solely based on guitar playing. I first playing guitar by being inspired by Metallica.
I only played Metallica music for about my first 4 years of playing guitar *aughs* -- I'm sure Chris is influenced by those
Karma Has Kelly: bands solely for their drumming.
insidejokerfreak: What's your favorite song by your band to play live
Karma Has Kelly: Plastered Cold and White
Makeshift Apology Records: My favorite personally is Light of day
insidejokerfreak: What kind of gear do you guys use?
Karma Has Kelly: Only the best!
Karma Has Kelly: Me & Ricky both have Marshall Full Stacks with MG412 cabs. Nick has a Peavy cab and Chris has a $5,000+
drum set.
insidejokerfreak: Always with the drummers... no one knows the name just that it costs 5000+ dollars (ha ha)
Karma Has Kelly: (Laughs)
insidejokerfreak: so do you guys have a pre-show ritual? (I ask because I'm trying to get the last answer to that question
topped)
Makeshift Apology Records: (Laughs)
Karma Has Kelly: We really don't have any rituals. We usually just get together before every show and rehearse our set
and then play the show.
insidejokerfreak: darn...
insidejokerfreak: what has been your favorite (or most memorable) show so far?
Karma Has Kelly: We've had a few, but we always have loved coming to our local venue at the Red Parrot Cafe.
Karma Has Kelly: The crowds are massive, everyone is up front and ready for us, tons of moshing, and we always get an encore
chant.
Karma Has Kelly: I personally think there is nothing more memorable then your home crowd.
insidejokerfreak: What has been the coolest place your music has taken you?
Karma Has Kelly: As in.. ?
insidejokerfreak: Anywhere... anywahere you've played, any opportunities it's given you (ect.)
Karma Has Kelly: Well, most importantly our music has gotten us signed. It has also got us over 8800+ friends to this date,
#6 on the Pennsylvania Top 10, #7 on the Vans Warped Tour voting (out of 2500+ bands), and a headlining gig at "Bands to
Karma Has Kelly: Watch in 06" held in November 2005.
insidejokerfreak: wow...
insidejokerfreak: so what's you're main goal to accomplish in the next 2-5 years
Karma Has Kelly: Tour the United States, play at stadiums, even come to the U.K. and rock out for you guys!
insidejokerfreak: We're in San Antonio... but okay... go to the UK too, I'm pretty sure Marcus (the guy who owns MusicPress)
is going to be impressed with you guys
Karma Has Kelly: Ahh, I thought this way Music Presss too *UK
insidejokerfreak: Well, I work for MusicPress but sadly no... I'm just their "american affiliate" or something like that...
I know I'm the only american on staff and it's lonely!

Karma Has Kelly: lol
Karma Has Kelly: ANy other questions? :-)

it, and why?
Karma Has Kelly: Say what?? (lol)
insidejokerfreak: (look up the Alchemy on myspace and thank them for that question)
insidejokerfreak: (that question orginated with their interview when they were still Hollowpoint and we've been using it
to this day)
Karma Has Kelly: I don't know about me, but I heard Chris is a Victoria Secret guy.
